Groundwater Monitoring

The Lake County Watershed Protection District has monitored groundwater in the major groundwater basins in Lake County since 1960. Wells have been added to and removed from the system since measurements started. At this time, The district measures 81 wells in 7 different groundwater basins twice a year, in the Spring (around April 1) and Fall (around October 1). This data is submitted to the California Department of Water Resources (CDWR). CDWR also measures wells in Lake County twice a year. The data is made available on the CDWR website.

California Statewide Groundwater Elevation Monitoring Program

Since 2012, the District has also participated in the California Statewide Groundwater Elevation Monitoring Program (CASGEM). The District is the designated CASGEM monitoring entity. The CASGEM Monitoring Plan is available below. Information is also available on the CDWR CASGEM website.
