Notes on the Treasurer-Tax Collector’s New Check Processing Systems; Residents Can Still Make Property Tax Payments In-Person at 255 N. Forbes St, Lakeport, 95453
Lake County, CA (October 19, 2023) – The Treasurer-Tax Collector’s office recently transitioned to electronic check processing. Checks received in-office will now be immediately deposited, eliminating manual procedures. In accordance with Government Finance Officers Association Best Practices, a “lockbox processing system” has likewise been implemented for upcoming Property Tax payments.
Property tax bills will be mailed out beginning the week of October 23. Here’s what you should expect:
The Return Address on your Property Tax bill will no longer be the Treasurer-Tax Collector’s Lakeport office address. Instead, payments will be sent to a vendor facility in Whittier, CA, where they will be processed, seamlessly integrated into relevant County systems and deposited. This approach is expected to make payment processing significantly faster.
The address you will see printed on your tax bill will be:
Lake County Treasurer-Tax Collector
P.O Box 6011
Whittier, CA 90607-6011
